Knife-Making Class

Make your own knife with Andy Burcham. You will learn all the steps required to make a full-tang knife in 2 days. Topics include hammer control, grain structure, grinding, and edge geometry.

What to expect

Day 1

  • Forge the knife from a raw piece of high-carbon steel, learning different hammer techniques.
  • Profile the knife on a grinder.
  • Heat treat the knife.

Day 2

  • Grind in the bevels and finish the steel based on the desired look of the knife.
  • Attach the handles and shape them.
  • Sharpen the knife.
  • Take a photo with Andy.

At the end of this class, you will have a fully functional knife and an understanding of each step of the process.

Lunch and bottled water will be provided each day. Feel free to bring other drinks and snacks.

$500 per student for the weekend

Students under 18 are welcome, but a parent or guardian must also enroll and attend the full weekend as a student.
