Knife-Making Class
Make your own knife with Andy Burcham. You will learn all the steps required to make a full-tang knife in 2 days. Topics include hammer control, grain structure, grinding, and edge geometry.
What to expect
Day 1
- Forge the knife from a raw piece of high-carbon steel, learning different hammer techniques.
- Profile the knife on a grinder.
- Heat treat the knife.
Day 2
- Grind in the bevels and finish the steel based on the desired look of the knife.
- Attach the handles and shape them.
- Sharpen the knife.
- Take a photo with Andy.
At the end of this class, you will have a fully functional knife and an understanding of each step of the process.
Lunch and bottled water will be provided each day. Feel free to bring other drinks and snacks.
$500 per student for the weekend
Students under 18 are welcome, but a parent or guardian must also enroll and attend the full weekend as a student.
